Our Mission: Green Cover, Community Engagement, Health And Wellbeing:
One in three people in the Vietnam suffers from mental health issues, and an alarming amount of people now suffer from social isolation and chronic loneliness. We want to do something to help.
The Forest Link help combat mental health issues through the Shinrin Yoku method – “the taking in the forest atmosphere” or “the forest bathing”. It was developed in Japan during the 1980s and has become a keystone of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine. We consider that mental health issues, stress and fatigue, and many other forms of suffering can be much reduced simply by being in nature; by being mindful of ones’ surroundings, and by planting and working in harmony with a permaculture food forest ecosystem.
Vietnam has lost 50 percent of its original primary forests in the last 50 years. Only 10 percent of the country forest are still untouched by logging or clearing. The Forest Link start planting permaculture food forest throughout Vietnam as a crucial evidence suggests that being in the countryside, specifically around trees can noticeably aid recovery. Our mission aims to recover green Vietnam as much as possible. Our forests will be healing spaces of harmony and peace.
In making donations to our work, you are fundamentally helping to address the issues mentioned above by building special places that will benefit local communities and the natural world. By using our Shinrin Yoku services, you also join hands in the forest cover work. As a social enterprise, we commit to reinvest 51% of the profit to plant the trees.
In this time of imbalance and disconnect, our permaculture food forests can help restore a sense of harmony within our natural landscapes, and local communities – all it takes is a seed for our future and we can restore what has been lost.
Who we are:
“What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another.” Mahatma Gandhi
Forest Link was set up by a group of individuals that felt moved by the current situation of the natural landscape, and the people linked to that landscape. As a social enterprise, it seeks to combat issues such as deforestation, social isolation, habitat depletion, accessibility of locally sourced food and to help to heal intensively farmed agricultural and industrial land.
What we do
Forest Link rent intensively used land from the land owners throughout Vietnam and plant permaculture food forests! Permaculture food forests are layered design systems that feed the earth as well as its inhabitance. They are very low maintenance and completely sustainable working as closed loop system (waste free). From the soil to the habitats in the trees and the system works in harmony with the natural world.
To have financial resources for planting the forests, we organize the shinrin yoku tour and 51% of the profit will back to the green cover plan.
